About the Wirral Business Awards
Wirral Chamber of Commerce and Mills Media Creative have worked in partnership to produce the Wirral Business Awards (WBA’s) for over 15 years.
In 2019, both organisations agreed to revamp the event. The new-look show, hosted by BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker, was a huge success with record applications for the 12 award categories and unprecedented positive feedback from attending guests. Exciting social media engagement and extensive PR coverage created the best metrics in the event’s history.
Dan Walker will return once again to host the show at the Floral Pavilion New Brighton and the date is set – Friday 5th June. Now established as one of the largest business awards shows in the north west, the ceremony is a celebration of best practice and the positive impact our businesses make on the national and international economy.
The awards applications will go live on Monday 6th January 2020.
Dan is the weekday news anchor of BBC Breakfast and is the current host of BBC One’s award-winning Football Focus. He is also a regular presenter of Match of the Day.
Dan studied journalism and worked on Sheffield student radio. He then worked for many northern commercial radio stations before moving to Granada TV covering league football for ITV.
Since joining the BBC, Dan has covered many British sporting events including Wimbledon, The Grand National, Royal Ascot, The Derby, and the Six Nations. He has continued to work on domestic, European and international football (including every major tournament since 2006) has co-hosted the broadcaster’s Open golf coverage and was an integral part of the BBC’s Olympic offering in both 2012 and 2016.
Away from sport, Dan has hosted numerous Radio 2 documentaries, Songs of Praise and has enjoyed appearing on shows such as Countdown, Pointless Celebrities and Celebrity Mastermind. He is also the author of Dan Walker’s Thronkersaurus: Football’s Finest Tales’ and Magic, Mud & Maradona.
Mills Media Creative is delighted to announce that we will be raising money for The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity at the Wirral Business Awards this year. There will be a raffle on the night, so make sure you get your tickets to win one of many amazing prizes supplied by our wonderful local Wirral businesses.
While one in two UK people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, it’s a tough reality that in Merseyside & Cheshire, the number of deaths from cancer is 20 percent higher than the national average.
The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre is one of the country’s leading cancer hospitals; operating across 18 sites for the people of Merseyside, Cheshire and the Isle of Man. In 2020, we’ll be investing in the Wirral centre to ensure we build the best possible future for cancer care in our area, and you can help us to get there.
The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity is the only charity dedicated to patients and research at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre. By choosing to support the charity, you will not only help to improve patient experience, fund vital research, and invest in the latest therapies, but our plans to transform cancer care would not be possible without the amazing people who support our charity.
Expanding the services of The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre into the heart of the population we serve will mean better access to treatment, a huge leap forward in our research programme and more life-saving clinical trials, which we hope will save an extra 700 lives each year. You can be part of it.
